Amaranth Traces & Thraesja

About Us

Thraesja and Amaranth Traces are kinda nuts. Not the kind that so many people seem to be allergic to, thankfully, but the kind of nuts that makes people back away slowly with their hands in the air.

They met online via fanfiction.net way back in January 2007 when Thraesja provided concrit on Amaranth's first few (unbetaed) stories. Amaranth was thrilled to receive constructive criticism and quickly asked Thraesja if she wanted to see stories before they were posted. That way, her brilliant suggestions could be used to improve Amaranth's stories before they were inflicted on the general public.

After rounds of "Okay, but bear in mind I don't actually know what I'm doing" on the parts of both Amaranth and Thraesja, Thrae did her first full beta on Amaranth's A Life Unlived. When Amaranth saw the tattered remains of her story left by Thrae's feedback, she promptly burst into tears. After a moment, she stepped back, separating herself from the story, and realised that when looking at it objectively, she agreed with nearly every comment and suggestion that Thrae had made.

And that, as they say, was only the beginning...

Since that fateful day, they've been pushing each other to write more and better stories (as well as nagging, harassing, and generally mocking each other). They help each other fill plot holes and logical errors in their stories, even sharing rougher-than-they'd-ever-share-with-anyone working drafts of scenes to see if the other one can help get them unstuck or "fix it" so that they don't hate it anymore. It's sweet, really.

One of their favourite games to play is the question-and-answer game, which is also known as the pick-this-story-idea-apart-until-it's-bleeding-from-every-orifice game. But that title's rather unwieldy. They use the question-and-answer game to help flush out story ideas to turn a single scene idea or extremely basic plot concept into something that might (maybe) actually be interesting to read. Awww... Didn't I say it was sweet?

We hope you enjoy our website and our stories. As time (and our webby ability) permits, we'll be adding to the functionality of the site to make it more interactive. In the meantime, feel free to browse stories and drop us a line at our forum! We'd love to hear from you.

Thanks,
