Okay, so, um. That thing I said about having some "free time" coming up? Yeah, total rubbish.

I started a new job on Monday and I've been scrambling to get caught up on the organisation's activities so that I can run things properly. It's all very exciting, really. The words "dream job" have come up more than once. However, it means that I don't have that free time that I thought I'd have.

In a few weeks, I'm hoping to be settled in enough to be able to relax a bit. 'Cause, y'know, I know you were all holding your breath. ;)

And I'm going to have to put off catching up on the forum posts until this weekend or so. Tonight, I'm positively exhausted. <yawn>

Oh yes, very naughty. Shame on you. I mean, really. ;)

Thrae's just posted a new Jack-centric genfic, but both she and I have a pile of works in progress that we could be working on, both individual and coauthorings. So I'll see what Thrae and I can do for new stories in the nearish future. It's just a matter of having the ability to concentrate, for me. Stupid brain...

I have been very naughty in not taking the time to thank you for the avatar gallery. My deepest apologies. Thanks for taking the time to do this. Your to do list looks good to me, but i would like to prod both you and Thraesja into making the writing and co-authoring a priority. I am really missing your stories guys!

Not sure if [url=http://www.amaranthtraces.com/forum/ucp.php?i=profile&mode=avatar&display_gallery=1]this link[/url] will work, so if not, go to your [url=http://www.amaranthtraces.com/forum/ucp.php]user control panel[/url] and click "Profile" then "edit avatar" from the menu on the left side. There should now be a link at the bottom now that says "Local Gallery: Display Gallery". Click that and you'll be able to choose from the icons I have on my fanart pages.

If anyone has any icons they'd like to see added to the common galleries of this forum, just let me know.

It's very similar to what I was thinking I might create for your other request - choosing genders and ethnicities. If it generates a name that you like, you can tweak the spelling a bit, maybe add an apostrophe depending on your alien culture, and then you should have a decent alien name on your hands.

Would that suit your needs or did you have something else in mind? No need to reinvent the wheel, but if you wanted something different than that, just let me know. :)

Actually, it's more like locked away in the upstairs bedroom typing away on the laptop. I always have a shopping window open at the same time just in case they come barging in unannouced while i'm in the middle of a red hot love scene!

The writing of it that is, not the participating in it! For crying out loud i've been married for twenty years!

Anyway, when they come in i click on the shopping window and pretend i'm looking for something special or early xmas pressies etc. They probably think that i'm addicted to internet shopping.

I have to look into how the avatar gallery works for this bulletin board. I think I can just upload a bunch of icons into a folder and it will automatically do the rest. This is a pretty spiffy bulletin board system ([url=http://www.phpbb.com/]insert promo link to free system I'm using here[/url]). If that's the case, then yes, the icons I've made will be available. I might even be able to make it so that people can upload their own icons to add to the collection. But no promises on that one.

I'll try to get to the gallery some time this weekend for you.

And thanks for sharing the funny image of you hunched in a corner, illuminated by the soft glow of a laptop screen, madly tapping out Stargate fanfiction whilst casting surreptitious glances over your shoulder to see if your daughters are watching.

Thank you so much for saying that you might do that, would the icons be available for us artwork challenged members to use as an avatar, signature etc?

Both my teenage daughters use icons on their MSN chat sites, but I'm afraid to ask them to help me because they are unaware of their mum's clandestine Stargate writing hobby. (My writing fanfic is what i do for me time!) They already think that i'm having a mid life crisis because i have all the episodes on DVD, hey what can i say, i just think Daniel is so easy on the eye!

Just cos i'm married and have children doesn't mean that i'm dead!

If they knew i was writing fanfic as well...they would probably think that i have lost it completely and call for the men in little white coats to come along! :-)

Anyway, I'm rambling. Thanks again for thinking of adding that to your very weighty to do list.

I'll tell ya what. I'll put "adding avatar gallery" to the to-do list and stick all my icons in there as soon as I both figure out how and have time to do it. Glad you like that Flag Scene one. I made it after I read a post somewhere about Sam's reaction to seeing naked!Daniel being sisterlike. Hello. I have a brother, and I can assure you that if he walked through a doorway wearing only a flag I'd probably snort and then proceed to tease him endlessly about it. Certainly not give him that holy-crap-you're-hot grin! *shudders*

No patents for my generators, no. Actually, I'm kinda tempted to make them open source, but I'm afraid my code is so clunky that I'll get laughed at by actual programmers ;)
