Okay, so, um. That thing I said about having some "free time" coming up? Yeah, total rubbish.

I started a new job on Monday and I've been scrambling to get caught up on the organisation's activities so that I can run things properly. It's all very exciting, really. The words "dream job" have come up more than once. However, it means that I don't have that free time that I thought I'd have.

In a few weeks, I'm hoping to be settled in enough to be able to relax a bit. 'Cause, y'know, I know you were all holding your breath.

And I'm going to have to put off catching up on the forum posts until this weekend or so. Tonight, I'm positively exhausted.

Thrae's just posted a new Jack-centric genfic, but both she and I have a pile of works in progress that we could be working on, both individual and coauthorings. So I'll see what Thrae and I can do for new stories in the nearish future. It's just a matter of having the ability to concentrate, for me. Stupid brain...

I have been very naughty in not taking the time to thank you for the avatar gallery. My deepest apologies. Thanks for taking the time to do this. Your to do list looks good to me, but i would like to prod both you and Thraesja into making the writing and co-authoring a priority. I am really missing your stories guys!

Hey folks!

I'm hoping to have some "free time" to get some website or fanficky stuff done soon. As such, I'm now taking requests should anyone like to help me prioritise my to-do list.

Here's the list I'm working with now. If you have anything you'd like to see added, feel free to let me know and I shall comply.

Create teaser images for all stories
Compile links page
Add drop-down menu to Amaranth Traces tab for fanfiction and fanart
Create "Alien Culture Generator"
Create an E-Card thingie

Not sure ifthis link will work, so if not, go to youruser control panel and click "Profile" then "edit avatar" from the menu on the left side. There should now be a link at the bottom now that says "Local Gallery: Display Gallery". Click that and you'll be able to choose from the icons I have on my fanart pages.

If anyone has any icons they'd like to see added to the common galleries of this forum, just let me know.

Also, have you seen this? Behind the Name's random name generator

It's very similar to what I was thinking...

Actually, it's more like locked away in the upstairs bedroom typing away on the laptop. I always have a shopping window open at the same time just in case they come barging in unannouced while i'm in the middle of a red hot love scene!

The writing of it that is, not the participating in it! For crying out loud i've been married for twenty years!

Anyway, when they come in i click on the shopping window and pretend i'm looking for something special or early xmas pressies etc. They probably think that i'm addicted to internet shopping.

I have to look into how the avatar gallery works for this bulletin board. I think I can just upload a bunch of icons into a folder and it will automatically do the rest. This is a pretty spiffy bulletin board system (insert promo link to free system I'm using here). If that's the case, then yes, the icons I've made will be available. I might even be able to make it so that people can upload their own icons to add to the collection. But no promises on that one.

I'll try to get to the gallery some time this weekend for you.

And thanks for sharing the funny image of you hunched in a corner, illuminated by the soft glow of a laptop screen, madly tapping out Stargate fanfiction whilst casting surreptitious glances over your shoulder to see if your daughters are watching.

Awesome.

Thank you so much for saying that you might do that, would the icons be available for us artwork challenged members to use as an avatar, signature etc?

Both my teenage daughters use icons on their MSN chat sites, but I'm afraid to ask them to help me because they are unaware of their mum's clandestine Stargate writing hobby. (My writing fanfic is what i do for me time!) They already think that i'm having a mid life crisis because i have all the episodes on DVD, hey what can i say, i just think Daniel is so easy on the eye!

Just cos i'm married and have children doesn't mean that i'm dead!

If they knew i was writing fanfic as well...they would probably think that i have lost it completely and call for the men in little white coats to come along!

Anyway, I'm rambling. Thanks again for thinking of adding that to your very weighty to do list.

I'll tell ya what. I'll put "adding avatar gallery" to the to-do list and stick all my icons in there as soon as I both figure out how and have time to do it. Glad you like that Flag Scene one. I made it after I read a post somewhere about Sam's reaction to seeing naked!Daniel being sisterlike. Hello. I have a brother, and I can assure you that if he walked through a doorway wearing only a flag I'd probably snort and then proceed to tease him endlessly about it. Certainly not give him that holy-crap-you're-hot grin! *shudders*

No patents for my generators, no. Actually, I'm kinda tempted to make them open source, but I'm afraid my code is so clunky that I'll get laughed at by actual programmers

The shared avatar thing sounds like a great idea, thanks for your advice about setting one up, not quite sure if i know quite enough to do it though, but i might give it a go.

I do love your banners and avatars section, especially the Daniel wrapped in the flag one! Pity i didn't think of that one myself. (grins!)

My webby development activity is highly dependent on my mood. Right now, I'm in a attempt-to-fic mood, but when the webby mood hits again, I'll see what more I can attack on the to-do list.

The images in the margin are called "avatars". You can set yours by going to your user control panel, click on "profile" from the list on the left side, then "edit avatar". Put the icon you want to use on a filesharing site like PhotoBucket or something and use that as the "link off-site".

I think this forum has the option to enable a gallery of avatars that people can choose from. Maybe I should add that to the to-do list, too?

Hi Guys,

Just love this website!

I was wondering, being the somewhat lazy writer that i am if you could maybe...pretty please...look into the possibility of coming up with an alien name dictionary or something of the like. See my problem is that i find it hard to come up with authentic sounding alien names. I've tried using scrabble tiles but it all goes to pot when you end up with a name that sounds as if it should be a luandry powder brand name or heaven forbid completely unpronouncable.

Also being a Brit means that our good ole Anglo Saxon names are somewhat cheesy. I mean how many aliens have you heard of with the name Timothy?

Just a thought.

BTW How do you guys make those Sam/Daniel images that are in the margins next to your names?

A gate address generator is an interesting idea. I can look into it. Not sure how it'll be useful though. Where would gate addresses be used? I'm assuming here that by 'gate address', you mean the symbols on the DHD? Hmm. I shall have to ponder the idea... I'll add it to the to-do list in the meantime.

The alien culture generator is unfortunately still just a concept at the moment. I can sorta see it in my head, but I need to sit down and really work out the nitty gritty before I can start to write the script...

Our to-do list

As you've probably noticed, our website is still very much a work in progress. While under the original plan that wouldn't be a problem, it seems the original plan has gone out the window.

See, the original plan was that Amaranth was going to get this site up and running, then get some feedback from Thraesja, do some more tweaking, then announce it to the world. The problem with that plan was that Amaranth didn't anticipate Google picking up the site's existence so quickly.

So here's the to-do list that Amaranth is currently working from. Items are listed in no particular order. She'll be removing things as she makes progress (or gives up) and adding things as she gets feedback.

If you have a suggestion or comment about the site, feel free to post it here on our forum and we'll see what we can do!

~~Convert all pages to .php and call the header and footer~~
~~Add a script to the header that will highlight the current tab~~
