Our to-do list

As you've probably noticed, our website is still very much a work in progress. While under the original plan that wouldn't be a problem, it seems the original plan has gone out the window.

See, the original plan was that Amaranth was going to get this site up and running, then get some feedback from Thraesja, do some more tweaking, then announce it to the world. The problem with that plan was that Amaranth didn't anticipate Google picking up the site's existence so quickly.

So here's the to-do list that Amaranth is currently working from. Items are listed in no particular order. She'll be removing things as she makes progress (or gives up) and adding things as she gets feedback.

If you have a suggestion or comment about the site, feel free to post it here on our forum and we'll see what we can do!

• Convert all pages to .php and call the header and footer
• Add a script to the header that will highlight the current tab
• Add all stories (phew!)
• Fix up the images on the site so they look right on everyone's computer (except, apparently, mine)
• Change banner and order of tabs as per Thrae's request
• Create teaser images for all stories
• Create custom 404 - File not found page
• Compile links page
• Add drop-down menu to Amaranth Traces tab for fanfiction and fanart
• Add "Fun Stuff" tab back to header

  • Create an E-Card thingie
  • By Request: Create planet designation generator
• Create forum or some kind of message board
• Add randomizing script to footer pictures
• Add more favourite quotes to the rotating script for the top of the site (Thanks Thrae!)
• Add links to image and other resources used to make Amaranth's art
• Organise icons and banners and stuff
• Find/make fandomy smilies and other images for forum
• Come up with a few FAQs (Thanks Thrae!)
• Remove 'To be continued...' notes at end of chapters of completed stories
• Make next/previous chapter buttons more prominent
• See about moving read/post comment links to after next/previous chapter buttons
• Add link to forum to site error messages so people can let us know if there's an error
• Add new footer and about us/acknowledgements pages
• By Request: Look into creation of text-only site for dial-up users
• By Request (immhotep at GateWorld): Look into creation of a generator to create pronouncable planet names, such as Tollana or Endor. Wait, that last one wasn't Stargatey at all... This will be pretty complicated and will therefore require considerably mulling-over. (Sometimes I even impress myself.)
• By Request (theheartofatlantis): Look into creation of a generator to create stargate addresses
• By Request (Eventhorizon7): Look into creation of alien name generator
• Create avatar gallery on forum
• Create "contact us" page on site
• Adjust forum style to make links more easily visible

Amaranth's and Thraesja's Exalted Planet Designation Generator

It generates planetary designations based on the apparent patterns on Wikipedia's list of Stargate planets and won't display any that were mentioned on that list (i.e.: in canon). At some point, I'll probably write up my notes, but I'm not in the mood right now.

The planet designation generator is in version 1.5 right now (version 1.0 only pretended to ignore the designations mentioned in canon). I'm confident that part's fixed now.

Feedback is yes.

Yay! I love the Random Planetary Designation Generator (heretofore known as the RPDG, since I've been having carpal tunnel issues).

Now I'm going to tell everyone on the the Sam/Daniel Appreciation Society forum about it, so they can come over here and play with it!
