Sometime after I saw "Ripple Effect" and read some fics revolving around the possible alternative realities that were featured in the episode, I wrote some short notes about some possibilities. However, none of these notes ever became more than that.
Today I was going over some backup files and found the file where I wrote them and since there's a lot of great angst writers here I decided that I didn't have anything to lose by posting it here.
Quote:
Samantha, Teal'c and Jack deceased – killed in the Kelowna disaster.
Daniel was unavailable to join the mission to Kelowna due to an injury from a previous mission. The remaining SG-1 team members joined SG-9 on the mission because of the interest in the Naquadriah.
After the death of the three members of SG-1, the team's designation was retired and SG-2 was upgraded to flag team. Rak'nor offered his services to Earth after being informed that Teal'c died.
Lt. Colonel Louis Ferretti, who had previously been at the Alpha Site, was transferred back to Earth and given the command of SG-8, a team whose status was changed to exploration and first contact to fill the gap left by the retirement of SG-1.
Bra'tac helped Daniel recover and talked him into going back to a field team. Afterwards, General Hammond permitted Daniel to reform SG-1 again.
General Hammond then promoted Ferretti to full bird and assigned him as the new military commander of SG-1. Daniel asked Rak'nor to join SG-1 and picked Lieutenant Jennifer Hailey as the team's scientific expert, since she reminded him of Samantha and she had been trained by her.
After a series of incidents regarding the NID and alien activity on Earth, the government started planning to make the Stargate Program public in three years. Doctor Elizabeth Weir was assigned (S06) to supervise the program and in the future replace General Hammond in the command of SGC.
President Hayes decided to execute the contingency plan made by his predecessor by putting Doctor Weir in charge of the Stargate Program; he also promoted General Hammond to the rank of Lieutenant General and assigned him as the head of the new Homeworld Security Office.
The Ancient knowledge was downloaded into Daniel, which he used to find the location of the Antarctica Outpost and use the Ancient drones to destroy Anubis' fleet.
So basically the idea would be of Daniel being the only remaining member of SG-1 after the accident in Kelowna. It would focus on Daniel dealing with the loss of his friends and also of him reconstructing the team to go on fighting the Goa'uld.
And since I'm a Sam/Daniel shipper all the way, and while this wasn't written down, I remember that one of the ideas that I had was of Daniel using McKay's research on how to figure out what had happen to Sheppard in the episode "The Last Man" to stop his team members from dying in Kelowna and being able to be with Sam again.
Cheers,
