This is pretty much for Eventhorizon7. I finally got a full page (depending on the font size that one uses) of something useful written down and upon remembering a private conversation with her on FF.net I decided to post this here:

Daniel and Sam get out of the car and make their way to the front door of the house. The two look nervous as they wait for someone to answer the door. Finally, General Hammond opens the door and looks surprised at his two subordinates.

“Major, Doctor, is everything alright?”

“No, sir. Everything is fine.” Sam then looked at Daniel.

“Uh, General could we talk to you? It's of a personal matter.”

“Of course” the General answers relieved that there was no alien invasion about to abrupt and steps aside indicating the two scientists to enter the house. “Let's go to the kitchen.” As the pair make their way through the living room to the kitchen Hammond saw their car outside. They were off duty and had took just one car. Either one of them picked the other up so they could come and see him or they had been together during their off-time, which was strange since they had been avoiding each other lately when possible.

As the General entered the kitchen he got even more curious at seeing Samantha Carter trying to maintain a calm face when she was obviously going mad with so much apprehension as he ever saw her. And as a friend of her family for many years he had saw and heard every humiliating story in detail that her father knew about her. Doctor Jackson was noticeably more nervous as the General had ever seen him. The old warrior of Texas was even more surprised at seeing the young archaeologist who had a huge confidence in himself even when trying to get a mission approved or when he had given his lecture. The remarkably well detailed report by the Lieutenant who was given the job of accompanying Catherine Langford and had attended the lecture that ended Daniel's public career gave emphasis to the Daniel's mental state and the confidence that exalted from him.

It was the Doctor, the soft-sciences doctor, that talked first seeing as the Major was completely concentrated in trying to not freak out. “General I'm sorry to barge in on you but we didn't want to wait to talk to you” Daniel sighed, “and to be honest we wanted to talk to you off-base since this is of a personal matter.” He looked at Sam as trying to get her approval to continue.

The young officer picked up where the doctor had cut himself off “Sir, we have been thinking about everything that has happened and decided that it was best to inform you immediately.” She stopped, trying to gain the courage to continue. Daniel didn't seem to want to continue either.

They took just one car? They were spending more time together off base. They went through that mission without hesitation. Doctor MacKenzie's worries on how close the team was. The chief of staff worried about fraternization between team members. The civilian staff joking around how the two worked so well together and had a lot in common. The nurse's rumors that Walter got back to him about who would get the widower's heart first. It was something of a personal matter that still he had to be informed immediately. In that millisecond that took for George Hammond to find out the unsaid words he was starting to smile for figuring out what a very intelligent Major in the Air Force and a linguistics expert had failed to tell him and for being happy for the two of them. In the next one his smile froze as he remembered the implications.

“General, Sam and I have feelings for each other...” the scholar final blurted out.

Sam not wanting to let the opportunity to put everything out in the open followed, “We love each other,” she smiled at Daniel and continued “and we want to pursue a relationship and see where this takes us.”

The old General still trying to figure out what to do sat down on one of the chair's at the kitchen table and barely let out two words: “I see.”

He couldn't stop thinking of the consequences of a simple declaration of love. It was against regulations having people on the same team involved with each other. Even if they could get permission from the president after they had done so much for this planet he didn't think that it would be smart for the two the remain on the same team. He looked at Sam and tried to determinate if she could keep her head clear if the young man died while on a mission and they had to leave him behind. Would she still be capable of helping the rest of her teammates come back alive? And if they were captured would Daniel be able to not reveal anything if he saw her being tortured? They well knew what people were capable of doing for information or for other purposes, less alone aliens wanting to conquer their world. The whole Hathor thing had shown it.

On their part the two scientists had become very worried at the General's short response and reaction. It crossed Sam's mind that he might faint.

A very low “Sir?” made him look up at the couple standing in front of him. He didn't even had time to invite them to sit down and ask them if they would like anything. The only thing on the table was a newspaper and his empty coffee mug.

“You have been thinking about everything that has happened since the mission?” He didn't know why this was his first question but there was not doubt that his subconscious had been paying close attention at what they were saying while he was thinking.

“Before that General. Everything that happened since we met,” Daniel said. Sam couldn't stop smiling at Daniel's words and getting a little lost thinking of what was said during their lengthy talk.

The General suddenly got up and made his way to the living room making the two become nervous once more. When the General came back he brought with him a bottle of whiskey and made his way to the cupboard to get two additional mugs and put them in the center of the table proceeding to fill his own mug a little before putting down the bottle. As he put the mug to his mouth he saw the surprise in the pair's face but was soon followed by the archaeologist who filled a mug with a little of the liquor and drowned it down.

Daniel couldn't stop thinking that things weren't going well with the General when they even hadn't exchanged a few phrases. Right now he could even do with some patented Hammond-yelling. Sam seeing has the General was probably not going to be so acceptable of the new relationship as she hoped for decided to also fill her mug and join them.

Hammond couldn't stop wishing for his wife to be there so she could give him some advice. Maybe he could have told her while they were getting ready to sleep about two youngsters perfect for each other that couldn't be together because they were teammates and they couldn't afford one of them to quit such an important team.

“What about your wife?” he wasn't able to think before asking this question as he had looped up and caught Daniel's eyes staring right back at his; and now he regretted sounding like a damn NID operator or a senator.

Daniel couldn't stop himself from flinching at the question and Sam felt uncomfortable, but other than that she didn't seem that much affected by the mentioning of the man's first true love that had him fight dragons to get her back.

It still needs to be cleaned, but seeing as I still have a lot to write until I get to this part it can wait for later when I'm more "in the moment".

Cheers,
